Jay-z D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)

Newest video.... not feeling this hair cut. Him, Kanye, Lupe and countless others are all tryin' to do this hair cut and I'm not feeling it on any of them haha. Jays flow is still good though, I'm lovin' this beat. NO I.D. always does a good job, especially in mentoring Kanye.

The Is Kinda Fucked Up...

This is an interactive homicide map showing all the deaths in Toronto since 2005. Its weird how they make it interactive. By clicking on the dot it gives a rundown of the crime...

Flight Club; the shop that took consignment to the next level recently launched a new location. This time around their selling not only sneakers but consignment apparel which including vintage Ralph Lauren, Prada, Supreme and the list goes on. And if yal'l know who I am you know im already copping all the Ralphy and Supreme in the lot, so hurry up and get your shit together before i sweep the street! Located on Lafayette St on the border of Soho and Nolita this store is worth the visit.

“most of the apparel “is vintage Polo Ralph Lauren, especially from the early nineties, including Polo Sport, Polo Bear, Polo Tech, and Polo Outdoorsman. No surprise, since it’s long been the gold standard for sneakerheads of all ages (not to mention guys nostalgic for long-lost high school gear). Other brands are limited but include the North Face, Prada, Supreme, Starter, and Patagonia, and, of course, a huge assortment of highly prized sneakers. “The idea is to be the ultimate closet for guys that are into this stuff”.

Stussy x Ren & Stimpy

The era of Saturday morning cartoons have long past, but there’s a lot of them that have yet to get their proper shine (I have a list of dope ones that have yet to be touched). Almost all of the ones I watched growing up have been straight bastardized by either the internet or Hollywood… Transformers, Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe… the list goes on. But for most of you youngin’s if there was any one show that would be just as good today as it was in the 90’s, Ren & Stimpy would be that shit. I’d recommend anyone who appreciates some slapstick humor to get acquainted or re-acquainted with this legendary cartoon. Kudo’s to Stussy for doing this collab…

New Poster

Just so you know, I brought in my good friend Michael Manalo to do some writing + posting for this site. He's always known alot more than me about streetwear and its culture, so I figure he'd be able to help me out.

Anyways, anything published under Altered Image is Mikey. He's also been a mentor for me in photography since I started. Check out his flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/altered_image/

Recent shots from the ISS

Earlier this week, NASA released an amazing photograph of an eruption of Sarychev Peak Volcano, taken by astronauts aboard the orbiting International Space Station (ISS). Seeing that great photo prompted me to dig into the archives and see what other imagery I could find from recent NASA archives. Collected here are a handful of photographs of Sarychev Peak Volcano, and more, taken by astronauts aboard the ISS over the past few months.

and some other stuff from the ISS

this is my favorite. These are roads and circular fields in Egypt.

I dont know how "ready to wear" you can actually call this stuff. Nonetheless, this is one of my favorite lines out of Paris fashion week. I'll post more soon. Especially the Louis V new line, which I really nice. Its nice to see Marc Jacobs behind it all.

whoa...what?

Michael Jackson died June 25th
Aaliyah died August 25th
Static Major died February 25th
Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes died April 25th
James Brown dies December 25th.

WEIRD.

AND...... just for times sake...

ACCORDING TO TMZ

"We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but they had no luck.

We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.

LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II."

Personally, I'm in shock. I don't care about his history and the charges or whatever, Michael Jackson was a legend and one of the most influential people in music history. I cant begin to name all the people him and his music has influenced, but truly this is a sad sad loss. What I'm wondering now is how much the Beatles songs he owned are going to sell for, or if they're just going to go to his wife.

R.I.P

I'm actually really saddened. He was a great man.

In his name, and also at the request of EP, I zipped up the 25th anniversary edition of Thriller incase anyone wants to download it in his name (which I recommend). Can't beat the second best selling record ever.

I'm keeping this on repeat for a few days, in his honor.

This actually has me alot more down than I expected. Mikey was one of the greatest musicians of all time, its hard to sink in.

I think its fucked up that I'm laughing at this, but its good. Its a damn shame though. It still hasn't really sunken in that he's gone.

Honestly its a god damn shame. He gave up his childhood so that the world could enjoy theirs through his music.

Its also embarrassing how two-faced the media is being, although its expected. Last year, everyone hated Michael like he was the devil for charges he was proved to be innocent of. This year, the same networks who insulted him and ruined his reputation now praise him for the musical genius that it is. Whatever. Then again, its hard to tell who actually listened to Michael and who is bandwaggoning in general.

I could quite literally go on and on about how fucked it is that even now he is still not being recognized for his music upon his death by the media. Instead, he is still remembered for the bullshit charges against him.

The simple fact is, he gave up his childhood. He just wanted to be a kid. It was sick, evil people trying to exploit an emotionally unstable man who couldn't defend himself and was already seen as a weirdo. It makes me sad that he lived such an unhappy life even though he was maybe the greatest musical artist of our time. I think that that 2012 shit is going to happen, there's almost literally no more love existent on this earth.

Snippets & Previews

NAS & DAMIEN "JR GONG" MARLEY - Distant Relatives preview.

It's really exciting to see two of my favorite artists doing an album together, and from the sample they released, its going to turn out amazing. Its only 1 minute long, but the track offers fans a preview of whats in store, featuring verses from both musicians.

CLIPSE & PHARRELL- I'm Good (Behind The Scenes)

Incase Nas & Marley wasnt enough, check out the behind the scenes footie for the new video "I'm Good" thats coming out. Again, its great to see two of my favorite artists working together haha.
